Vicki and six of her Tap Pups All Stars appeared on the TODAY Show with Hoda and Kathie Lee, performing a signature number and sharing their story live. The segment emphasized the book’s core message about finding your rhythm at any age, proving that passion and performance don’t have an expiration date.

Following early conversations with NBC around a potential reality television concept centered on Vicki’s Tap Pups, the network immediately recognized the emotional energy and originality behind the story. Shortly afterward, Vicki and six members of the Tap Pups All Stars were invited to appear live on the TODAY Show with Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford.

The segment featured a live performance along with interviews centered around the larger message behind the movement: finding joy, confidence, friendship, and rhythm at any age. Watching my mother and her dancers perform live on national television was surreal, especially knowing the entire journey had started years earlier as a small local adult tap class in Central Pennsylvania.

The appearance also became a major cultural moment for Encore Performance and the broader Tap Pups story, helping introduce audiences nationwide to Vicki’s philosophy around reinvention, optimism, and second acts.

Takeaway

The TODAY Show was such an exciting moment for Vicki and the Tap Pups. And to be honest, I was so proud as well. To be able to give these ladies (and Rick!) the opportunity to dance on live network tv is incredible and the fact that they crushed it is even better. Vicki’s Tap Pups really was a powerhouse - and it was a pleasure for me to bring them to the world.
